Born and raised in California, I come from a family deeply rooted in education—my father, a teacher, was one of my earliest inspirations. I earned my Multiple Subject and Education Specialist credentials in 2008, and for nearly 20 years, I’ve worked as an education specialist, supporting students from Kindergarten through 8th grade in a wide variety of learning environments. My experience spans both resource programs and special day classes for children with severe to profound educational needs.

Literacy has always been at the heart of my work. I believe every child has the right to read, and that consistent, hands-on, and systematic instruction is key to their success. I’m currently pursuing Orton-Gillingham certification to deepen my expertise in supporting struggling readers.

I’m excited to bring my experience, passion, and heart to everything we offer at RISE Literacy.

Born and raised in downtown Chicago, I am a passionate educator with a B.A. in Anthropology from the University of Colorado Boulder. I hold three California teaching credentials: a Multiple Subject Credential for elementary education, a Single Subject Credential in Social Science, and an Education Specialist Credential for students with mild to moderate support needs. Over the past 22 years, I have taught in both elementary and middle schools across California, dedicating my career to nurturing curiosity and a love of learning in all students.

Most recently, I worked as a reading interventionist and education specialist in Monterey, where I witnessed firsthand the deepening literacy crisis, especially in the wake of the pandemic. This experience reinforced my commitment to supporting students who struggle with foundational literacy skills and inspired the creation of RISE literacy. I believe every child deserves access to effective, compassionate instruction that meets their individual needs and helps them thrive. Literacy is not only the foundation of academic success—it is the key to becoming an informed, capable, and contributing member of society.
